Cloudflare just built a new browser built specifically for AI agents called Kitesurf. Traditional browsers like Chrome are built for human needs like tabs, extensions, animations, pixel-perfect rendering, while AI agents care about entirely different things like token efficiency, low CPU and memory use, fast cold starts, and cheap screenshot or content extraction across thousands of parallel sessions.
Kitesurf drops the human-facing layer and optimizes only for what agents actually use, running on Cloudflare’s serverless Workers platform inside lightweight V8 isolates. The result is roughly 3-7x less CPU and memory than Chromium on common agent tasks like taking screenshots or extracting HTML.
That all sounds technical, but in reality the implication is much more simple: The Internet is about to get a new type of user. For the last 30 years, websites were built for humans to interact with. We search, click, scroll, fill out forms, and buy things all over the internet. AI agents will now start doing that work for us.
The Browser Becomes a Tool for AI
Think about how we use AI today. You ask ChatGPT: “What’s the best hotel in Tokyo under $300?” AI will give you some options to choose from. The next step is different.
You tell your agent: “Find me the best hotel in Tokyo for under $300 and book it.” The agent searches the web, compares hotels, checks availability, and completes the task. You don’t browse, your agent does all the heavy lifting. Cloudflare is building infrastructure for this new agentic future.
The Internet Will Need to Serve Humans AND Agents
Now here is where things get interesting. Websites today are optimized to convince human brains. Great photos. Landing pages. Pop-ups. Ads. Big BUY NOW buttons. Agents don’t care about all of that. They just want the data. What’s the price? Is it available? Can I buy it?
Cloudflare is also working with WebMCP, which can let websites expose specific actions directly to agents. Instead of an agent figuring out where the “Book Now” button is, a hotel could simply expose:
search_rooms → check_price → book_room
The web starts looking less like a collection of pages and more like a giant API.
This Could Rewrite Digital Marketing
Now follow that idea through a little bit further. What happens when your customer doesn’t visit your website? Their AI agent does instead. An agent could compare 50 products in seconds and choose one based on price, reviews, availability, and the customer’s preferences.
No banner ad. No pop-up. No perfectly optimized landing page. Maybe not even a Google search. For decades businesses have obsessed over the usual checklist. How do we get Google to rank us? The next question will be: How do we get AI agents to choose us? That could create an entirely new layer of optimization for businesses to optimize for.

Yesterday’s Bots Were Blocked. Tomorrow’s Agents Will Buy.
This may be the biggest shift. The internet spent decades trying to keep bots out. CAPTCHAs literally ask you to prove you’re human. But an AI agent might arrive with permission to spend $5,000 on behalf of a company. That’s not a bot you want to block, that’s a customer.
The challenge changes from “Is this a bot?” to “Who does this agent represent, and what is it allowed to do?” Identity, permissions, trust, and security become much more important in this new world.
This Is the New Agentic Internet
The first wave of AI was about generating information. The next wave is about taking action. Agents will research. Compare. Schedule. Purchase. Negotiate. And complete work across the internet. Cloudflare isn’t just giving AI another browser.
It’s preparing infrastructure for a world where a meaningful share of internet traffic isn’t generated by people at all. It’s generated by AI working for people, and that could change what a website is actually for.
