Jack Dorsey Thinks Workplace Chat Is Broken. His New Platform Has Everyone Buzzing.

  • 2 min read

Every few years, a new product comes along that makes you rethink how we’ll work in the future.

Jack Dorsey’s new open-source platform, Buzz, feels like one of those products.

At first glance, it looks like another Slack or Discord competitor. But that’s not really what it’s trying to be.

Slack and Discord were built for people to communicate. AI has been bolted on later through bots, plug-ins, and chat assistants.

Buzz flips that idea on its head.

It’s being built from day one with AI agents in mind.

Imagine a workspace where AI isn’t just answering questions. It has context, works alongside your team, coordinates with other agents, and actually gets work done.

That’s a very different future than asking ChatGPT the occasional question and spitting out an answer.

The other thing that makes Buzz interesting is that it’s open source.

That means companies aren’t locked into one AI model or one vendor. As new models like DeepSeek V4, Kimi K3, and whatever comes next continue getting cheaper and more capable, businesses can adapt without rebuilding their entire workflow.

But what excites us most is the idea of shared context.

Most companies have information spread across Slack, email, CRMs, Google Drive, Notion, calendars, and dozens of other apps. Every time an AI agent needs to complete a task, it has to piece together information from disconnected systems.

Buzz has the potential to become a central hub where both people and AI agents operate from the same context.

That’s a big deal.

The companies that get the most out of agentic AI won’t necessarily have the smartest models. They’ll have the best systems for giving those models context and letting them work together.

We’re still early, and Buzz has a long and competitive road ahead.

But if Jack Dorsey is right, the future workplace won’t just be a place where people chat.

It’ll be a place where humans and AI agents work side by side towards a common goal. Buzz might be one of the first platforms built specifically for that collaborative future.
